Weekly Private Instruction

As a private instructor for the last seven years, Johanna Borenstein has taught beginning, intermediate, advanced and flutists of all ages.  Johanna teaches the essentials of flute playing, balancing fundamentals with fun to keep students interested in learning.

The teaching system she employs is a synthesis of her studies with great teachers like John Wion, Tim Day, Jim Walker and experience while earning degrees at the Colburn School of Music, USC, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and The Hartt School of Music. The core elements of each lesson are fundamental exercises that are critical to the development of a fine musician. Each student plays as much as possible during the lesson to ensure growth week to week.
